VCHA Rebrands As GIRLSET Following Lawsuit, Departures & New Single

VCHA has a new name, a new lineup, and a new chapter. The Los Angeles–based global girl group formed through A2K in 2023 has officially reintroduced itself as GIRLSET, with remaining members Camila, Lexi, Kendall, and Savanna stepping forward as a four-piece. The rebrand arrives alongside fresh music, including the group’s latest single, “Little Miss,” released in November 2025.

JYP Entertainment confirmed the rebrand in August 2025, signaling a reset after a turbulent year that saw member departures, a high-profile lawsuit, and a lengthy period of silence that left fans concerned. Now, GIRLSET is back on the promotional trail and presenting a tighter focus as they build on the momentum that first put VCHA on the map.

Why VCHA Became GIRLSET

VCHA originated as the first global girl group created through the K-pop trainee system for Western markets, selected via the reality competition A2K, which premiered on YouTube in July 2023. The group initially debuted with six members—Lexi, Camila, Kendall, Savanna, KG, and Kaylee—under JYP Entertainment in partnership with Republic Records. After dropping the pre-debut single “SeVit (NEW LIGHT)” in September 2023, VCHA made its official debut with “Girls of the Year” in January 2024.

Early traction was followed by an unexpected pause. In June 2024, VCHA went quiet on social media, and a planned Lollapalooza performance in July 2024 was canceled due to “unforeseen circumstances.” The silence fueled speculation about the group’s future as fans awaited clarity on the lineup and next steps.

By late 2024 and mid-2025, that future began to take shape. Member KG exited the group in December 2024, and Kaylee departed in July 2025 via mutual contract termination. With four members remaining, JYP Entertainment confirmed the rebrand to GIRLSET on August 7, 2025, framing the move as a fresh start for the unit.

Departures, Lawsuit, and Settlement

KG, whose full name is Kiera Grace Madder, publicly filed a lawsuit against JYP Entertainment in December 2024, alleging mistreatment and an unhealthy work environment. “I have decided to terminate my contract with JYP Entertainment and exit VCHA after experiencing incidents of abuse and mistreatment by certain staff members. I feel it was not a good environment for my mental health and I apologize if my leave disappoints any of you,” she said at the time.

In the same statement, she added: “I am not in support of the working and living conditions that led a member to attempt suicide. Nor do I support an environment that encourages eating disorders and has caused members to self harm.” The lawsuit drew widespread attention as the group’s hiatus continued. Kaylee later left the act on July 12, 2025, through a mutual contract termination.

The legal dispute concluded shortly after the rebrand announcement. On August 8, 2025, KG’s lawsuit was settled, clearing a significant hurdle as the quartet moved ahead under the new name. While the settlement details were not disclosed, the resolution allowed GIRLSET to proceed with promotional plans without the cloud of ongoing litigation.

GIRLSET’s New Music and Direction

Following the rebrand, the group began rolling out new music to signal its updated identity. The quartet released “Commas” as a lead-up to “Little Miss,” their November 2025 single that reintroduced the act to fans. The releases mark GIRLSET’s pivot from the uncertainty of 2024 to an active campaign focused on the four-member configuration.

Camila, Lexi, Kendall, and Savanna are now positioned as the face of GIRLSET, with new visuals and choreography emphasizing the unit’s refreshed energy. While the group first launched under a hybrid K-pop/Western strategy through JYP Entertainment and Republic Records, the rebrand consolidates their narrative: a global pop outfit trained within the K-pop system but built for a broad international audience.

At the time of writing, additional release plans or touring details have not been formally announced. However, the rebrand has been accompanied by increased social media activity and promotional content highlighting GIRLSET’s four-member lineup, suggesting a sustained rollout as the group re-establishes its presence.

From A2K To A Reset: What It Means For Fans

For supporters who’ve followed the group since A2K, GIRLSET represents both continuity and change. The current lineup preserves four original members and their chemistry, while the new name marks a clean break from the turbulence that paused VCHA’s initial run. For a project built to bridge K-pop training with Western pop markets, the pivot underscores how quickly a rising act can evolve—and how a clear, cohesive identity is crucial to long-term growth.

Importantly, the move also reflects a strategic choice to put the focus back on music and performance. With “Commas” and “Little Miss” leading the way, GIRLSET’s priority is reintroducing the members’ voices and stage presence after a year overshadowed by off-stage developments. As the quartet continues, their trajectory will be defined by how they build on the early promise of the A2K experiment while learning from the challenges that followed.

For now, GIRLSET’s message is simple: the group is turning the page and stepping forward as a four-member act ready to compete again in a crowded global pop landscape. After reintroducing themselves with a new name, a streamlined roster, and a pair of singles, GIRLSET’s next moves will determine how this reset resonates with both longtime fans and new listeners.
