Even a runaway Burmese python isn’t enough to rattle Taylor Swift and Zoë Kravitz’s friendship.
The pop superstar finally weighed in on the infamous “Snake-Gate” incident that unfolded inside her Los Angeles home earlier this year — and let’s just say, Taylor was just as surprised as everyone else.
In January, Zoë and her mom, Lisa Bonet, stayed at Taylor’s house during the Los Angeles wildfires. While there, they accidentally managed to get Lisa’s pet Burmese python, Orpheus, stuck inside one of Taylor’s walls. Zoë first told the story in August, but on Late Night with Seth Meyers on October 8, Taylor shared her side — and it’s hilarious.
“I just want to preface this with, we’ve all got that one friend,” Taylor began. “I just remember getting a call from my head of security and him trying to explain this story to me. And my first question was ‘What snake?’ I was unaware of the presence of the snake.”
Host Seth Meyers couldn’t help but laugh: “If someone told you, ‘Oh the snake is loose,’ and you didn’t even know there was a snake…”
Taylor doubled down: “Did not know there was a snake.”
As her security explained how Zoë and Lisa were trying to get Orpheus out of the wall, Taylor stayed calm. “I kind of found myself listening to this and I’m like, ‘Uh-huh, okay,’” she said.
Apparently, Zoë and Lisa had gone to extreme lengths to rescue the python — including tearing apart a “custom vintage cupboard” and leaving Taylor’s bathroom covered in splinters. Taylor, however, saw the beauty in the chaos.
“This is the chicest thing I’ve ever heard in my life,” she joked. “Zoë is wearing head-to-toe The Row. I’m like, ‘This is a YSL ad, not a problem.’ It sounds incredible. I’m sad I didn’t see it.”

Taylor admitted she wasn’t surprised Zoë didn’t tell her about the incident right away. “I know her well enough to know, ‘She’s not gonna tell me about this until it’s fixed,’” she explained. “I just kept a little countdown on my phone, like just counting the days. I think it was like three weeks—exactly the amount of time it took to fix the damaged cupboard.”
When Zoë finally told her what happened, Taylor burst out laughing. “She’s like, ‘I told them not to tell you!’” Taylor recalled. “Dude I’ve been laughing about this for three weeks.”
