Suspect Arrested After Allegedly Stealing Unreleased Beyonce Music in Georgia

Kelvin Evans has been arrested after he was accused of allegedly stealing unreleased Beyoncé music from her choreographer’s car.

The Atlanta Police Department announced that Evans was taken into custody on Tuesday, September 16, in Hapeville, Georgia, for a parole violation on August 26, according to ABC7. Evans was booked for one count of entering an automobile or other motor vehicle with intent to commit theft or felony, according to jail records viewed by Life & Style.

Choreographer Christopher Grant and dancer Diandre Blue were traveling with Beyoncé, 44, for her Cowboy Carter Tour shows in Atlanta when they reported the break-in to police on July 8, according to ABC7. They claimed someone smashed a window in their rental vehicle, which was parked in a garage, and stole two suitcases from the car when they were at a nearby restaurant.

Grant, 31, told police he was “carrying some personal sensitive information” for Beyoncé, while the police report listed that the stolen items included two Apple laptops, five thumb drives that included “unreleased music” and other digital files related to the singer’s tour.

“The hard drives contained water marked music, some unreleased music, footage plans for the show and past and future set list,” the police report stated, according to People.

Despite Evans being arrested, investigators told CNN that the hard drives have not been returned to the owners.

Cameras at the parking garage captured footage of the vehicle used during the theft, according to the incident report, per Atlanta News First. Authorities called the vehicle’s owner, who explained she rented out the car to help pay her bills. The owner said she rented the vehicle to her mother that morning, and her uncle, Evans, called her later in the day to pick him up.

Evans allegedly told the vehicle’s owner he only needed the car for five minutes, though he was gone for 30 minutes before he returned it. He allegedly told his niece that he used the car to go to a friend’s house, according to Atlanta News First.

Once he returned with the car, Evans allegedly told his niece to meet him at her aunt’s apartment to drop off four black bags. The apartment complex’s surveillance footage captured Evans, his niece and a child taking the bags out of the car, per the outlet. He then returned the car to his niece and placed a bag in the trunk before he left on a bike.

Evans is currently being held at Fulton County Jail on a $20,000 bond, according to jail records viewed by Life & Style. The jail records revealed that he has an extensive arrest history that dates back to 2002, as he’s been arrested for alleged armed robbery, aggravated assault and entering an automobile with the intent to commit theft.
