‘So You Think You Can Dance’ Season 4 Winner Josh Allen Struck and Killed by Train at 36

Josh Allen, winner of season 4 of the reality dance competition show So You Think You Can Dance, is confirmed to have died at just 36 years old.

The dancer was known on the show for his versatility across genres, from hip-hop and contemporary to ballroom, Tango, lyrical jazz, and more.

Perhaps because of his versatile skills, he was never once in the “bottom vote-getter” group on his season of the show, which helped push him forward to his ultimate win.

The final round of the show’s competition was between Allen and Stephen “tWitch” Boss, who then became a close friend of his. Tragically, Boss died by suicide in 2022.

TMZ first reported on Allen’s death early in the morning on October 1, sharing that a member of the dancer’s family told the outlet he died on September 30. At the time, the family member asked fans for “privacy and prayers.”

Then, in a later story from TMZ that same day, his family confirmed the cause of death, revealing that he had been struck by a train before being taken to a hospital near his Texas home, where he ultimately passed away.

In that same article, TMZ also confirmed with the Fort Worth Police Department in Texas that a call came in on September 3o for a person who was struck by a train and that it is still an ongoing investigation at this time.

Allen’s family members also shed more light on their final conversations with the dancer, saying, “One of the last things he said was to ‘keep God first at all times.’ You have to be real with yourself before you can be real with anybody else.”

Allen’s close friend, choreographer Emmanuel Hurd, told also shared with TMZ that Allen was “a very honest, real person.”

Allen had been largely out of the spotlight as of late, following a year-long jail sentence when he pled no contest to domestic violence charges from his ex-girlfriend back in 2017.
