Ryan Dorsey celebrated his son Josey’s 10th birthday with a heartfelt Instagram post.
Sharing photos and videos of the two together, Dorsey wrote: “120 months…521.78 weeks…3,652 days gone by in a flash… 
Our sweet baby boy @joseydorsey is 10 
”.
He continued, “I cannot believe how fast you’ve grown into the strong, curious, funny, bright, and intelligent 10-year-old that you are today. I love you more than all the stars 
in the galaxy. I’m so proud to be your dad, my guy
”
Ryan, who was married to Naya Rivera from 2014 to 2018, has been raising Josey as a single father since Rivera’s tragic death at age 33 in July 2020 as a result of a swimming accident while she and Josey were together.
In an interview with Good Morning America this past February, the 41-year-old opened up about how he is keeping the memory of Rivera alive.

“I’m grateful that he has memories of his mom still,” the actor added. “And luckily, his mother was on television, so she’s going to live on forever.”
Ryan also noted that he can’t help but wonder what would have happened if he had been on the boat with his late ex-wife and Josey at the time of her death.
“We would’ve all jumped in,” he shared. “Part of me thinks I would’ve been able to save the day. Part of me thinks that maybe we both, if something crazy happened with undercurrents, I don’t know, maybe we both wouldn’t have made it out. And then Josey doesn’t have two parents.”

In an interview with People he also mentioned what Josey remembers from the tragic accident. “Something he’s said over and over is that he was trying to find a life raft, and there was a rope, but there was a big spider on the rope, and he was too scared to throw it,” he said.
“I keep reassuring him, ‘Buddy, that rope wasn’t going to be long enough.’ That obviously still sticks out in his head because he feels like he could have saved her.”
