Golden Bachelor Mel Owens may have spent lots of time last week apologizing for his ageist podcast comments about dating, but they certainly seemed to stick in the ladies’ minds this week.
Episode two of The Golden Bachelor kicked off with a chance for the ladies to get a little bit of revenge on Owens in the form of a playful comedic roast, with comedian Jared Freid as the host.
And the ladies didn’t hold back, bringing up Owen’s age comments, his past marriage, and more.
“Roses are red, violets are blue, I want all the women to love me, but especially you… and you… and you… But can I check your IDs first?” said contestant Nicolle, doing her impression of Owens during the roast. She ended up winning the roast and getting a one-on-one date with Owens.

During their dinner date, Nicolle decided to dig a little deeper and asked Owens about his divorce. His ex-wife, Fabiana Pimente, filed for divorce after falling for another man during the COVID-19 pandemic. Owens admitted he was caught off guard and hurt by the divorce, but that he was open to the commitment of marriage again despite what he had been through.
It seems Owens was really feeling a connection with Nicolle, because the two were also seen making out in the pool in front of the other contestants, much to everyone’s shock. Contestant Cindy, who was seen making out with Owens in the previous episode, was particularly upset.
Owens also had a one-on-one date with contestant Debbie, and gave out roses to her and Nicolle ahead of the rose ceremony.
While Owens was out with Debbie, surprise guests Kathy and Susan, contestants from season 1, guest-hosted a slumber party filled with games where they offered advice and gossiped with the rest of the contestants.

At the rose ceremony, ultimately four women were sent home, Terri, Monica B., Amy, and Monica P., with the rest moving into the next week of the experience.
Episode 3 of The Golden Bachelor will air Wednesday, October 8 on ABC.
