It was wedding bells for Modern Family star Eric Stonestreet, who revealed that he had married his longtime girlfriend, pediatric nurse Lindsay Schweitzer, more than four years after popping the question.
Stonestreet shared the happy news on Instagram early Tuesday, September 9, captioning the post, “It’s my birthday and guess what I got.” The actor turned 54, though it’s unclear when the actual ceremony took place.
In the gallery of wedding photos, Stonestreet looked svelte and dapper in a fitted navy blue suit with a light blue tie, while his bride wore a long satin gown with a crystal belt. A couple of the photos pictured the newlyweds enjoying their first dance, surrounded by acoustic guitar-playing musicians.

Stonestreet’s Modern Family costar and onscreen husband Jesse Tyler Ferguson congratulated him in a comment, joking, “Of all second marriages, this one is my favorite! I love you both! I’m so happy for you!!!”
Stonestreet told People back in July that they planned to marry at their home in Kansas City.
“Well, I’ve said we’re building a house to host a wedding, and we’re still on track to do that,” he said at the time. “We’re almost done with the house, and that’s been our plan all along.”
“We got engaged and then all of a sudden got an opportunity to build a house,” Stonestreet continued. “And I thought, no better way to start a relationship than literally building a foundation. So that’s our plan and we’re still on track for that.”

The couple got engaged in August 2021 after more than five years of dating. Stonestreet opened up about his proposal back in December 2023 during an appearance on Today with Hoda and Jenna while promoting season 2 of The Santa Clauses. And as he explained, there was some light trickery involved.

“I proposed. I tricked her pretty good. I convinced her that a company was interested in us working together for an ad campaign,” Stonestreet recalled. “So, we were doing a little test video and I had the camera set up in front of her. And then in the middle of it, I just pulled out the ring. So it was all captured. She was in hair and makeup.”
When asked how Schweitzer reacted, he quipped: “She said no, and then I talked her into it and it was great.”
People first reported in August 2017 that the couple met during the Big Slick charity weekend in Stonestreet’s hometown of Kansas City the year before. “They are very happy to have met each other and are enjoying spending time together,” a source said at the time.
