McDonald’s fans rejoice! The chain announced on Monday, Sept. 29 that it is bringing back its popular Monopoly game promotion for the first time in nearly a decade. And this time, the game has a digital twist on it.
Starting on Oct. 6, and running for a limited time through Nov. 2, McDonald’s is giving customers “the thrill of the peel” with both classic physical game pieces as well as digital game pieces when ordering select items. However, to opt in, users must download and register through the McDonald’s app. Those who pre-register between Sept. 29 and Oct. 5 will also get 500 bonus rewards points.
Users can collect physical game pieces from promotional packaging on select items, and then enter the code on the app for a second bonus chance at winning. Similarly to how the game has been run in the past, some game pieces will be instant winners—including free McDonald’s menu items—while users can also collect and complete property sets to win prizes.

In addition to free food, prizes include 1 million American Airlines AAdvantage miles, a $50,000 Vacation to a Monopoly Go! Location, and a $10,000 Lowe’s Shopping Spree. Those who play the bonus game could walk away with a 2026 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited, exclusive experiences from The Coca-Cola Company, and even a $1 million cash prize.

To play, customers must simply purchase any of the 30 eligible menu items across McDonald’s breakfast, lunch, and dinner menus, such as popular items like the Quarter Pounder with Cheese, Egg McMuffin, and large fries. Some menu items will have the game piece on he packaging while others will have a digital game piece in the app. Users can also win rewards points to put towards even more free food.

McDonald’s Monopoly promotion first launched in 1987 and has been brought back many times over the years, sometimes under different names, such as Monopoly: Pick Your Prize! in 2001, Monopoly Best Chance Game from 2003 through 2005, and Monopoly/Millionaire Game in 2013. Before now, the last time McDonald’s brought back Monopoly was in 2016, when the game was renamed “Money Monopoly.”
