TikTok beauty influencer Mikayla Nogueira is defending herself against her online haters in a vulnerable new video.
“I want to address something that’s been heavy on my mind for quite a while, my appearance and what I look like,” Nogueira said, starting the video. “I’ve said this a million times and I will defend it until I’m in the grave, that there are no filters on my videos,” she continued.
Nogueira then went on to explain that she is constantly bombarded by people online asking why she looks different in person or in photos taken by others than she does in her TikTok and Instagram posts.
“I’m aware that I’m not, like aesthetically pleasing to look at or, like, photogenic. It’s really easy to take a bad photo of me,” the influencer said, tearing up. “I film on the TikTok app with no filters. I’m just sitting here talking to my phone and this is what I look like,” she clarified again.

Nogueira then went on to explain that one of her biggest insecurities has always been the appearance of her side profile, and she finds herself often being harassed about it by those who dislike her online. “I don’t have an attractive side profile and people really like to use that against me,” she said.
She added that because of her insecurities, she has learned which angles and poses look most flattering for her in photos and videos. However, when strangers take photos or videos of her, naturally the angles they choose may be different and, to her or her haters, may make her look less than ideal.
“People who take pictures of me out in public or, like, any sort of, like, Getty Images, like, they don’t give a f*** about your insecurities,” she said. “If your stomach is out and you’re insecure about it, they don’t give a f***. If you have, like, saggy skin on your arms, which I have, I have, like, excess skin all over my body, they don’t give a f*** about that. So yeah, it’s gonna show in pictures.”
Nogueira then touched on the fact that having a career in the beauty industry has only made dealing with her insecurities more challenging, saying, “My whole life I have not been considered ‘beautiful.’ I am aware that I am not, and it’s not easy being a beauty influencer who’s not ‘beautiful.’”

Nogueira then briefly reminded viewers about her history of struggling with eating disorders. “I don’t wanna bring up too much about EDs, but I’m not doing good in that department,” she shared, tearing up again.
Nogueira has opened up several times in the past about her experience with eating disorders and her journey healing her relationship with food.
“I thought my ED was gonna kill me, to be honest, and many times I got close. So the fact that I can say today that I am this strong is such a big f***ing deal, and I had to work really f***ing hard for over the last year,” she shared in a TikTok in August of 2024.
“Anyways, the point I’m trying to make is, I get it. I get it. I know I look different in person. There’s nothing I can do about it,” Nogueira concluded in her September 17 TikTok, “I just don’t get why we’re still attacking people for their appearance in 2025. Like, y’all are all about anti-bullying, anti-this-and-that, until you’re not. I’m just asking for, like, a little bit of grace.”
