Liam Hemsworth and Gabriella Brooks are officially engaged.
After nearly six years together, the couple announced the happy news on September 12 with a picture-perfect reveal on Instagram. Gabriella shared two sweet photos to her feed, showing off her sparkling diamond ring as she rested her hand on Liam’s chest while they smiled for the camera. In the second shot, she treated fans to a close-up of her new sparkler, keeping her caption minimal and chic with just a white heart emoji.
The announcement comes after weeks of speculation that the pair had secretly gotten engaged. Gabriella, 29, first sparked rumors when she was spotted wearing the ring while celebrating Liam’s brother Chris Hemsworth’s 42nd birthday. She looked radiant in a sunny yellow mini dress and black sunglasses, while Liam, 35, kept things casual in a white tank top and blue shorts.
The Australian duo’s love story began back in 2019, shortly after Liam’s highly publicized divorce from Miley Cyrus. That December, Gabriella joined Liam for a brunch in Byron Bay with his parents, Craig Hemsworth and Leonie Hemsworth, marking their first public outing as a couple.

By June 2021, they made their relationship Instagram official when Liam posted a group photo from the Gold Dinner 2021 in Sydney. The snap included Gabriella alongside Liam, Chris, Chris’s wife Elsa Pataky, and their close friends Matt Damon and Luciana Barroso.
While Liam’s romance with Miley was often described as intense and on-again, off-again, insiders say his connection with Gabriella has been much more grounded. “His relationship with Gabriella is very different from Miley. They like the same things and have the same lifestyle,” a source told E! News at the time.
Even Liam’s famously tight-knit family has given Gabriella their stamp of approval. “There were red flags with Miley, she wasn’t keen to live at least part-time in Australia,” a source told Life & Style in 2024. “Gabriella is Australian, and she’s spent most holidays with the clan. All the Hemsworths have given her two thumbs-up. They would welcome an announcement that she’s joining the family.”

As for Liam’s past, he and Miley wed in 2018 after nearly a decade of dating but announced their split just eight months later. “Liam and Miley have agreed to separate at this time,” a rep told People in 2019, adding that they remained “dedicated parents to all of their animals.”
Liam also personally addressed the breakup days later, writing on Instagram, “Just a quick note to say that Miley and I have recently separated, and I wish her nothing but health and happiness going forward.”
