Kentucky Man Allegedly Wrote To-Do List to Cover Up Partner’s Murder: Report

A Kentucky man named Daniel Kearney has been accused of making a to-do list to allegedly cover up the murder of his partner, according to multiple reports.

Kearney, 39, was arrested on Friday, September 12, after Kentucky State Police (KSP) troopers arrived at the home he shared with his late partner, Damian Poole, in Steams, Kentucky, according to court documents obtained by WKYT and FOX 56.

Poole was reported missing by his mother to the McCreary County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) on September 9, per the documents. Three days later, state troopers went to search the camper the couple lived in and found what appeared to be Poole’s body.

Investigators said that Poole’s body was found in a “back room” of the camper and was covered by several blankets, according to FOX 56. Additionally, Poole appeared to have sustained two gunshot wounds to his head and he was believed to have been dead for several days.

FOX 56 reported that Poole’s ankles were tied together with a nylon rope, and the troopers believe the body had been moved since he was initially killed. Investigators also found two bodies of deceased dogs at the scene, and it’s believed they were never moved from the spot they were shot and killed.

A pile of sheets, clothing and cardboard covered in blood were all found at the scene, as well as an AR-style rifle, other guns, several bullet holes and multiple pools of blood.

Troopers also found a to-do list that was allegedly written by Kearney, according to FOX 56. The list reportedly included reminders to clean up, remove all evidence, paint the home with an odor sealant and get rid of Poole’s body. Additionally, the list included information about needing to burn things and spread ashes in other states.

The couple’s neighbors spoke with police and revealed Kearney and Poole fought often and gunshots were occasionally heard from their camper, according to Fox 56. The neighbors also claimed they asked Kearney about where Poole was after he had not been seen in a while, and Kearney allegedly claimed Poole abruptly moved to another state.

He is currently being held at Knox County Detention Center. A judge has set his bond at $1 million, and Kearney is scheduled to be arraigned on Thursday, September 18.
