A man in Des Moines, Iowa, is facing nearly one hundred criminal charges after he was accused of hiding cameras inside portable toilets at local events.

Tyler Pavlick was initially arrested on October 15 and charged with seven counts of sexual exploitation of a minor-cause to engage in act, as well as three counts of invasion of privacy involving nudity, which is an aggravated misdemeanor, according to online court records viewed by People.

Police said Pavlick, 32, allegedly placed the camera under the toilet seat and taped dozens of adults and children as they used the porta-potties, according to KCRG.

The charges stem from a camera that was found in a portable bathroom on October 4 at the Harvest & Handmade Fair at Water Works Park in Des Moines, according to WHO13 and KCRG.

Des Moines Police Department Sgt. Paul Parizek told WHO13 that the camera filmed the faces of adults and children as they entered the porta-potty and used the toilet.

Following Pavlick’s arrest, the Marshall County Sheriff’s office announced on October 16 that it was investigating a similar report of a camera that was found in a porta-potty at the Lincoln Valley Golf Course in State Center on September 23.

At the time the camera was found, the West Marshall Community School District was hosting a cross-country meet at the golf course that was attended by male and female students from other school districts.

The sheriff’s office said a group of event participants alerted police “to what they believed was a concealed camera,” per the release. “The device was removed and turned over to law enforcement.”

Authorities were able to view surveillance footage, which gave a “partial image of a person and vehicle of interest.”

On October 6, Des Moines police detectives told Marshall County investigators that they were investigating a similar incident and they believed the crimes were committed by the same person. According to the release, digital evidence implicated Pavlick’s alleged involvement in both cases.

It is currently unclear if Pavlick has retained an attorney in light of the charges.
