Derek Hough has shared heartwarming footage of his wife, professional dancer Hayley Erbert, learning sign language for her maid of honor speech ahead of her best friend and fellow dancer Britt Stewart‘s wedding.

Stewart married actor Daniel Durant, who is deaf, on August 23rd. Wanting to be able to speak directly to Durant during her speech, Erbert dedicated herself to practicing the speech in American Sign Language (ASL).

The video Hough posted on Instagram showed Erbert practicing day after day to perfect the speech, before finally speaking and signing it in front of the couple and their guests at their rehearsal dinner.

“Daniel, you have made Britt shine brighter than ever. You are her perfect balance, steady and grounding, yet, you let her be all of who she is,” Erbert said and signed during the speech.

The end of Erbert’s speech was met with tears and hugs between her and the happy couple.

Durant and Stewart met when they were matched up as partners on Season 31 of Dancing With the Stars, where Durant was a celebrity contestant and Stewart was his professional dance partner and coach. While the duo did not ultimately win the show, they instead won big time in another area of life: love.

Stewart also met Erbert on the show when she first joined back in Season 26. The pair soon became close and remain best friends today, even as Erbert decided not compete this season after taking into account her past medical scare and current pregnancy.
