Ellen Degeneres Is Being Sued 2 Years After Car Crash

Ellen DeGeneres is facing a lawsuit two years after allegedly failing to follow traffic rules.

On Oct. 16, 2023, the comedian reportedly ignored a stop sign while driving in Santa Barbara County and “t-boned” a woman’s car. The news was first reported by TMZ on Friday, Sept. 12.

According to People, the lawsuit states that “Ellen DeGeneres entered the intersection without stopping at the stop sign.”

It also notes that the intersection where the incident occurred on that day “is controlled by stop signs in all directions.”

The unnamed plaintiff claims that although she did stop for her stop sign and “made sure there were no other vehicles” present before driving forward, she claims in the lawsuit that DeGeneres entered the intersection “suddenly and without any warning” before hitting the plaintiff’s vehicle

The lawsuit also claims DeGeneres engaged in “negligent conduct (that) fell below the standard of care of a reasonable person” and alleges that she “negligently caused, or contributed to causing, plaintiff’s vehicle to be collided with by the defendants’ vehicle.”
