McDonald’s fans, rejoice! The beloved fast-food chain has officially announced the return of the Happy Meal Boo Buckets.
The 2025 lineup features familiar frightful faces — Ghost, Pumpkin, and Goblin — alongside two new spooky additions: Cat and Zombie. The fun buckets come in multiple festive colors like white, green, orange, red, and black, and they double as trick-or-treat bags for Halloween.
Each bucket also features its own “creepy, kooky, and cute expressions,” and kids can personalize them with Halloween-themed stickers.
In a statement the popular hamburger chain said, “Halloween buckets are popping up everywhere like ghosts in the night– and hey, imitation is the most BOO-tiful form of flattery. But let’s be real: there’s only one OG Halloween bucket, and it comes with a Happy Meal.”

First introduced in 1986, the Boo Buckets have become a nostalgic favorite for fans. After vanishing for years, McDonald’s brought them back in 2011, 2022, 2023, and 2024. However, last year’s redesign received some criticism from fans longing for the classic look.
In an Instagram leak that showcased the new design of the Boo Buckets, fans didn’t hold back with sharing their disappointment. “This isn’t what we asked for,” said one commenter. Another fan wrote, “They look so CHEAP. Just like present McDonalds. I’ll dig out my vintage ones. Thanks anyway.”
Someone else simply said, “Meh… it’s the nostalgia we want!” Other comments echoed similar sentiments, asking McDonald’s to stick with the old-school 90s design instead.

This year, McDonald’s seems to have actually listened to the comments. The 2025 Boo Buckets have been redesigned to resemble the classic buckets fans know and love, bringing back that nostalgic Halloween spirit.
Comments on an Instagram post announcing the return have sent fans into a frenzy. One fan wrote, “Love the nostalgia
”. Another said, “The cat one is so cute”. Someone else chimed in saying, “Childhood memories.”
The new and improved Boo Buckets will be available nationwide on October 21 while supplies last.
