Ashlee Simpson recently gave fans a rare update on her daughter, Jagger, whom she shares with husband Evan Ross.
“My daughter does not let me dress her anymore,” Simpson, 40, told E! News at the alice + olivia by Stacey Bendet Spring 2026 Presentation in New York City earlier this week.
“I can go get the things or whatever. She is definitely going to be a style icon. She picks out her clothes, her looks.”
But when it comes to her own wardrobe, Simpson admitted things have changed since becoming a mother.

“I’ve definitely worn some wild outfits in my life,” she reflected. “But being a mom, I think in my day-to-day life, it’s always about ballet flats and my mom looks.”
Still, with her return to the stage, the star has found a space to show another side of herself. “The stage looks are obviously different and going out, that’s been fun,” the 40-year-old said.
The “Pieces of Me” singer shares Jagger, 10, and Ziggy Blu Ross, 4, with husband Evan, as well as Bronx Mowgli Wentz, 16, with ex-husband Pete Wentz.

For Simpson, fashion is just a tiny part of her latest chapter. She’s also in the middle of a seven-day residency in Las Vegas at the Venetian Resort’s Voltaire nightclub, running until Sept. 27. When talking about what it’s like to be performing again, she said it has been a joy—not just for her, but for her fans and family, too.
The singer also told E! at the 2025 MTV VMAs how the tour has been going so far. “It’s been a blast, honestly, just for me to get up there and perform these songs that I haven’t played in so long. Then to understand, for me, what it feels like to play them again feels the same for my fans has been just incredible.”
