Nina Dobrev is single again — but is she already sparking a new romance with Zac Efron?
The Vampire Diaries alum, 36, recently called off her engagement to Olympic snowboarder Shaun White after five years together, and now all eyes are on her as she soaks up her post-breakup summer.
Just weeks after news of the split broke, Nina was spotted vacationing in Italy with a star-studded group of friends. Per the Daily Mail, the actress joined Zac, Chace Crawford, Kelsey Merritt, Miles Teller and Keleigh Teller for a luxury yacht trip along the Italian coast. Social media snaps and photos obtained by the outlet showed Nina and Zac cozied up in conversation, instantly fueling rumors that the two longtime friends had turned romantic.
The speculation comes at a dramatic time in Nina’s personal life. Earlier this month, she attended the Toronto International Film Festival without her engagement ring, confirming what fans had suspected: her relationship with White, 39, was over.
“It was a mutual decision, and wasn’t an easy one, but it was made with love and a deep respect for one another,” a source told People of the split.
The pair had appeared rock solid up until their breakup. White proposed in October 2024 with a five-carat diamond ring after years of sharing their romance publicly. They moved in together during the pandemic, quickly becoming a fan-favorite Hollywood couple. “Nina’s just been so supportive and so amazing through this whole process for me,” Shaun previously told People, calling her a “lifesaver” during lockdown.

But while Nina’s ringless red carpet walk raised eyebrows, the Italian yacht trip with Zac sent fans into overdrive. Some even joked about a “Dofron” nickname for the rumored pairing. Insiders, however, were quick to shut down the speculation.
“Zac and Nina might be hanging out on a yacht, having fun, getting along but they aren’t dating, they aren’t looking to get together, so the rumors of something more just don’t currently exist,” an insider told the Daily Mail.
They continued, “Nina is looking to unwind and just have fun and deal with life post-breakup, but that doesn’t mean she is going to land in Zac’s arms. Zac is a nice guy, and they are friendly, and that is all that it is. Don’t get your Dofron relationship nicknames out just yet.”
