The movie was later delayed twice, first moving to 2026 before ultimately landing on its current release date of October 1, 2027. That is five years after The Batman.
The long wait is naturally disappointing, especially since the excitement surrounding the franchise was in part due to how Robert Pattinson's Batman was early in his career in The Batman. When the sequel arrives in theaters, Pattinson will be 41, leading to the actor even joking about the ordeal. The 2023 Hollywood strikes and rumored personal issues affected Reeves' script timeline.

In animation, Bat-Fam will arrive soon, on November 10, following a new take on the Bat-Family from the comics. Finally, a 4-part Batman: Knightfall movie franchise has been announced, with the first film releasing in 2026. There is plenty of Batman content before The Batman 2 comes around.
