Hailey Bieber, model and founder of beauty brand Rhode, is opening up about her past regrets surrounding her education.
In a new interview clip posted by the Wall Street Journal, she admitted that she does regret dropping out of high school to focus on her modeling career.
While she has had a very successful career so far, Bieber emphasized that it was a risk, and should not be the norm.
“I wouldn’t sit here and, like, tell anybody to, like, bet on that,” Bieber said, referring to dropping out of school to pursue modeling.

“Obviously, it did work out and I’m really proud of myself that, you know, that I have accomplished what I have without having finished high school,” Bieber continued in the interview.
“I just wish that I had finished it because I was so close. I think that’s what it was, too,” she added. “I was, like, a senior in high school, I was almost done, and I got lazy.”
Bieber recently sold her beauty brand Rhode to e.l.f. Beauty for a whopping $1 billion. While she no longer holds ownership of the company, the founder will stay on to serve as the brand’s chief creative officer and head of innovation.
She plans to use the money from the sale to establish future financial stability for her son, Jack.
“I want to preserve that for my son’s future. It’s an amount of money that I have not dealt with before, so I just want to be smart with it,” Bieber said in a Wall Street Journal article. “I would like to invest it wisely.”

In the comments of the interview clip, many people noted that Bieber failed to mention the fact that she has a very rich and well-connected family she could rely on, which made her dropping out of high school less of a risk for her.
“The most tone deaf thing that nepo babies do is think that they’re like everyone else and they accomplished xyz because they were just that great. No, you had a head start that most people don’t get to have. That’s why you didn’t need high school. The rest of us can’t even get good jobs with a college degree,” one commenter said on the post.
Others questioned whether she would have a modeling career or the means to start a beauty brand at all without her family’s money and reputation.

“She doesn’t even have a high school diploma ???? How sad. Her ‘accomplishments’ have NOTHING to do with her and everything to do with nepotism. But then she’s obviously not smart enough to to know that so it all makes sense,” another commenter added.
Bieber has reacted to commentary about her being a “nepo baby” before, most notably by wearing a white t-shirt with the words “nepo baby” on it back in June of 2023.
“I’m just going to call myself a nepo baby, because I am one, and I embrace that I am,” she said in regards to her wearing the t-shirt during the June 29, 2023 episode of the Bloomberg Originals series The Circuit With Emily Chang.
