Britney Spears Slams Kevin Federline’s Allegations In New Book: ‘Extremely Hurtful and Exhausting’

Britney Spears has had enough.

The 43-year-old pop icon is firing back after shocking claims from her ex-husband Kevin Federline’s upcoming memoir, You Thought You Knew, were released online — and she isn’t holding back.

Following a series of excerpts that detailed what Kevin described as “scary and erratic” behavior during their marriage, Britney took to X (formerly Twitter) to call out what she labeled “constant gaslighting” and defend herself against his allegations.

In the book, Kevin accuses Britney of drinking alcohol during her pregnancy, using cocaine while breastfeeding, and behaving in ways that allegedly frightened their sons, Jayden, 19, and Preston, 20. One particularly alarming story claims that the boys “would awaken sometimes at night to find her standing silently in the doorway, watching them sleep — ‘Oh, you’re awake?’ — with a knife in her hand,” Kevin wrote, according to The New York Times. “Then she’d turn around and pad off without explanation.”

Britney responded swiftly and emotionally. “The constant gaslighting from ex-husband is extremely hurtful and exhausting. I have always pleaded and screamed to have a life with my boys. Relationships with teenage boys is complex. I have felt demoralized by this situation and have always asked and almost begged for them to be a part of my life,” she said.

She went on to address her strained relationship with her sons directly. “They have always witnessed the lack of respect shown by own father for me. They need to take responsibility for themselves. With one son only seeing me for 45 min in the past 5 years and the other with only 4 visits in the past 5 years. I have pride too. From now on I will let them know when I am available.”

Britney also made it clear she believes Kevin’s book is financially motivated. “Trust me, those white lies in that book, they are going straight to the bank and I am the only one who genuinely gets hurt here,” she wrote.

She ended her statement by reaffirming her love for her children while rejecting Kevin’s narrative. “I am actually a pretty intelligent woman who has been trying to live a sacred and private life the past 5 years. I speak on this because I have had enough and any real woman would do the same.”

Kevin has not yet responded to Britney’s recent post. However, he previously addressed a statement from Britney’s rep — made one day earlier — accusing him of “profiting off her” now that he no longer receives child support. Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Kevin defended his decision to write the memoir. “My story’s been told by everybody else through a different lens for 20 years, and I felt that it is time for me to tell my story,” he said. “That’s what it is, right? I wanted to wait. I waited until my kids were old enough and waited so I can gain a really good perspective and reflect. And now is the time, right? And that’s what it is. This book is for my children’s future.”
