Charlie Hunnam’s office was recently broken into, and the thieves decided to take “practical” items that will likely shock fans of the actor.

The thieves broke into Hunnam’s office in North Hollywood on the night of Monday, October 13, after they smashed a bathroom window in order to enter the office. While there were likely many valuable items in the office, the Los Angeles Police Department told NBC4 Investigates that the thieves only stole a stapler and lamp.

It was estimated that the stolen items cost just tens of dollars.

Officers were alerted of the heist when the intruders tripped an alarm. No one has been arrested in relation to the crime as of the morning of Tuesday, October 14.

A law enforcement source told the outlet that the break-in was likely not a targeted crime, but instead a crime of opportunity. It is not currently clear if the thieves knew that the office belonged to Hunnam, 45.

Hunnam is best known for starring on Sons of Anarchy from 2008 until 2014, while he has also had notable roles in the films Green Street (2005), Nicholas Nickleby (2002), Pacific Rim (2013) and Triple Frontier (2019).

Most recently, Hunnam took on the role of serial killer Ed Gein in Netflix’s anthology series Monster.

While discussing the role and filming process during the September 30 episode of The Today Show, Hunnam explained that his longtime girlfriend, Morgana McNelis, told him, “Take some time after you finish, because when you come home, you should be ready to see me.”

Once he was done shooting season 3 of Monster in Chicago, Hunnam said he “decided to stay for a week and sort of decompress so I was ready to see her when I got home.”

“And it was about an 8-hour drive up to Wisconsin from where I was to where Ed grew up and where he’s buried,” Hunnam explained about how he spent the time after filming.

He then said he thought it would be a “good conclusion to go visit his grave and say what I wanted to say to him” as a way to officially leave the role behind him.

Once he made it to Gein’s grave, Hunnam told the serial killer he “hoped we had told his story honestly at the very least, and [I] didn’t invite him to come on the journey with me moving forward.”

“I was ready to say goodbye to him and that be the end,” Hunnam added.
