Who Is Mark Sanchez?
Sanchez rose to fame as an American professional football player who was a quarterback in the NFL for 10 seasons. After he played college football for the University of Southern California Trojans, Sanchez was drafted by the New York Jets in the first round of the 2009 NFL draft.
He went on to play for the Philadelphia Eagles, Dallas Cowboys, Chicago Bears and Washington Redskins, who are now known as the Washington Commanders, before he retired in 2019.

Mark Sanchez Was Stabbed and Arrested After an Altercation in October 2025
Sanchez and a truck driver, identified as P.T. in police paperwork, got into a physical altercation in the early hours of October 4, 2025, in Indianapolis. A police affidavit stated that the retired athlete allegedly confronted the driver after he backed into a hotel’s loading docks, according to NPR.
While talking to authorities, the driver explained that he pulled a knife on Sanchez to defend himself. It was also noted that Sanchez smelled of alcohol when he confronted the driver.
Sanchez started “grabbing and throwing” the driver toward a hotel, while he also allegedly threw P.T. on the ground.
The driver said he thought Sanchez was “trying to kill me,” according to the affidavit. In light of the attack, Sanchez was stabbed several times by P.T.
“The next thing P.T. knew was Mr. Sanchez looked at him with a look of shock, he slowly turned around, and Mr. Sanchez took off northbound in the alley,” the legal paperwork said, per NPR.
Sanchez was hospitalized with stab wounds to his upper right torso, and he remained in the hospital until October 5. Following his release, TMZ Sports reported that Sanchez was sent straight to jail. His attorney paid his $300 cash bond and he was released soon after, according to the outlet.
Mark Sanchez Was Hit With Several Charges
Sanchez was initially hit with three misdemeanor charges of battery with injury, unlawful entry of a motor vehicle and public intoxication. However, it was reported on October 6, that he was also facing a felony battery charge.

“I don’t care who you are. I don’t care what you do for a living. I don’t care where you live,” police chief Chris Bailey told reporters at the time, per People. “If you come into our city, commit violence, we will use all the tools that are at our disposal to hold you accountable.”
Sanchez was in Indianapolis at the time of the altercation to cover the Raiders-Colts game on October 5 for Fox. He has not publicly spoken out about the scandal, though P.T.’s family told The New York Post that he was “OK” following the fight.
“We are talking to lawyers first. We want to be careful what’s said. We appreciate that,” they said, adding that they were shocked that Sanchez attacked the truck driver.
