Costco shoppers can always grab a slice of $1.99 pizza from the big box chain’s food court if they get hit by a craving. But for those looking for something more decadent, Costco recently started carrying frozen pizzas from Pizzeria Uno, widely regarded as birthplace of the deep dish. And they are apparently worth the hype.
Pizzeria Uno’s Triple Pepperoni pizzas come in a two-pack of nine-inch pies that feature layers of mozzarella, Parmesan, Romano cheeses, a trio of pepperoni, and a layer of rich, savory tomato sauce on top. Traditional Chicago-style pies are known for having the sauce on top of the cheese and toppings, and the crust is more akin to a flaky, buttery pie crust than regular pizza dough. Having the sauce on top also helps keep the crust crispy.
As of now, the triple pepperoni is the only option available. Though, it remains to be seen whether the chain may eventually add a meatless version for vegetarians who also want to get their deep dish on.
The two-packs of pies also cost just $14.69 for a not unsubstantial 3-pound box, though prices may vary by location. As All Recipes points out, this is a significantly better deal than the Pizzeria Uno frozen pizzas sold at Walmart, which cost around $10 for just one pie.

Because these are legit deep dish pies, they also boast a longer cooking time than classic frozen pizzas. According to the packaging, it takes 45 to 50 minutes to cook right out of the freezer, or 35 to 40 minutes if thawed in the refrigerator overnight.
Unfortunately, it appears as though the Uno Triple Pepperoni Deep Dish Pizza is currently only available in Midwest locations, with the Costco price-tracker app Warehouse Runner reporting that the first sighting was at the Orland Park, IL location, a suburb of Chicago. But that seems hardly fair, as Chicagoans can just head to the original Pizzeria Uno location to experience deep dish, or any of the other deep dish restaurants around the city.
Costco notes on its website that while the company is known for its selection of brand-name products and the Kirkland Signature label, that it also features a number of locally sourced items that are unique to that part of the country.

“Costco has buyers based in each of its eight regions who are tasked with determining the best mix of products for their respective areas,” the website states. “This allows them to respond to regional tastes and preferences, and offer more of what members in those communities like.”
