Family and relationship content creators Matt and Abby Howard have taken to Instagram to announce the unfortunate loss of their third pregnancy.
The couple is well known online for their content about the ups and downs of their marriage and family life, with over 5 million followers on TikTok and over 800k subscribers on the YouTube channel for their podcast, “The Unplanned Podcast.”
Already parents to two sons Griffin, 3, and August, 2, the pair were excited to welcome their third child together.
“It is with very heavy hearts that we share about the loss of our baby girl born far too soon,” the couple said in a joint Instagram post on September 28.

“At a routine pregnancy appointment, our doctor could not find a heartbeat,” the couple continued in the caption of the post. “Shortly after they sent us in for an ultrasound where the technician said words we will never forget, ‘I am so sorry I do not have good news.’ That is when we got the gender reveal we never hoped for and also the news that our baby had a genetic condition that took her life around 17 weeks gestation.”
The couple had just announced their third pregnancy five weeks prior in an exclusive story with People. In the August announcement post, the couple had shared that their third pregnancy was “almost more exciting than ever” because they already knew the joys of parenthood.
Now, the Howards are left grieving the sudden and tragic loss of the pregnancy.
“For now we will grieve and continue to think of ways to honor her life offline,” the Howards continued in their joint post. “Thoughts and prayers are more than welcome. Thank you everyone for celebrating this precious life with us for the past 17 weeks.”
