It seems that rumors of Keanu Reeves marrying his longtime girlfriend Alexandra Grant have been greatly exaggerated. On Wednesday, Sept. 24, Grant personally clarified that she and the John Wick star haven’t tied the knot.
The 52-year-old visual artist shared a photo to Instagram of herself and Reeves sharing a sweet kiss on the steps at the Roden Crater art installation in Flagstaff, AZ, where he had been interviewing the installation’s designer, James Turrell, for his Roku Visionaries docuseries.
“This is a real photo. Not an engagement photo or an AI wedding announcement … simply a kiss!” Grant shared, noting that it might have been the moment right before or after the kiss, given their “slightly goofy” expressions.
Grant was perhaps referring to an AI image that was shared from a fan Instagram account, appearing to show the couple in wedding attire showing off their wedding rings. The post went live on Tuesday, Sept. 22, and has already amassed nearly a quarter of a million likes.

“I’m sharing it here to say thank you to everyone for the congratulations on our wedding,” Grant continued in her post. “Except we didn’t get married. Good news is much needed these days, but it’s still fake news, so be careful out there! So, here’s a bit of real happiness!”
Her clarification comes two days after Reeves’ publicist likewise told E! News, “It is not true. They are not married.”
Reeves and Grant were first linked in November 2019, when the media honed in on their relationship after they appeared together on the red carpet of the LACMA Art + Film Gala. However, Grant’s friend, actress Jennifer Tilly, later clarified that they had been dating for years at that point.
“I remember a couple years ago, about a year and a half ago, [she] said, ‘Keanu Reeves is my boyfriend’ and I’m like, ‘Wait. What? What? What?’” Tilly told Page Six in February 2020. “She was so cool I thought she was a lesbian.”

“It’s really astonishing to me how in the last five months, all of a sudden, she goes to an event with him and everybody goes insane, like, ‘It’s his new girlfriend,’ because she had gone to a lot of events with him,” the Bride of Chucky star continued. “It’s just suddenly surfaced that he’s been dating her for several years.”
However, even then, Tilly was skeptical that Reeves and Grant would ever tie the knot.
“I don’t know that doesn’t seem very hip and bohemian, does it?” she added. “They’re artists. They’re just going to do what they do.”
It’s unclear when the pair met, but as People points out, they’ve known each other since at least 2011 when Grant illustrated Reeve’s adult picture book, Ode to Happiness.
