Kelsea Ballerini’s Dog Dibs Has A Surprise Surgery Today And Is Asking For Well Wishes

Kelsea Ballerini’s beloved dog Dibs is having a surprise surgery Wednesday, September 24th. The “Baggage” country singer took to Instagram to share with her loyal followers an update on her dog’s health. 

On her Instagram story, the 32-year-old wrote, “baby boy has a surprise surgery today. We would appreciate all of the big love and prayers and healing energy you can send his way. It’s gotten him this far. ❤

Dibs has been a significant part of Ballerini’s life ever since the early days of her career. The labradoodle is even named after her 2015 song “Dibs”  and is also mentioned in her emotional song “Penthouse” from Rolling Up the Welcome Mat.

“I’ve grown up with dogs my whole life,” Ballerini previously said. “When I started touring, it was my first time really being on my own. I was homesick sometimes, and I was like, ‘I really want a dog.’ 

 

“Dibs came into my life when I got my first tour bus. I think dogs kind of make home wherever you are, and so, for me, he’s always made it feel like home… the magic of a dog is just the fact that they’re by your side no matter what,” she said.

Kelsea Ballerini Slams Pregnancy Rumors After Postponing Tour Dates

The singer revealed that Dibs had been officially diagnosed with cancer in August of 2024. On August 25, 2024, she wrote on her Instagram story alongside a photo of her beloved dog saying, “My sweet Dibs needs big prayers and healing energy sent his way. Send our boy some love.”

A few days later, on August 28, she shared more details. “The last few days we have discovered that Dibby has inoperable cancer in his heart. He’s not in pain, and luckily it hasn’t spread further.”

A year later, on August 12, Kelsea posted a TikTok video of her and Dibs running on the beach together. She captioned the video, “almost forgot this is the whole point 🥹. happy one year of fighting cancer, best friend. ❤
