Harry Styles was one of 80,000 runners who took part in the Berlin Marathon on Sunday. And the former One Direction band member crushed the race with a time of just under three hours, his personal best to date.

According to The Associated Press, the local German newspaper Der Tagesspiegel was the first to report that Styles participated in the race under the pseudonym Sted Sarandos. He was spotted among the runners wearing a blue shirt, black shorts, and bright pink sneakers.

The 31-year-old’s final time was 2 hours, 59 minutes, 13 seconds, just barely squeaking under the three hour mark. Running a sub 3-hour marathon is generally considered a rite of passage and the benchmark of a “serious” runner.

Likewise, Styles kept an incredible pace of 6:50 per miles and his splits were nearly perfect too, at 1:29:08 for the first half of the marathon and 1:30:06 for the second 13.1 miles.

Despite the fact that Styles kept a low profile, after the race was over he took the opportunity to get a photo op with paralympic gold medal athlete Richard Whitehead. “2.58 in Berlin with my mate!! Anyone know him!!” Whitehead captioned a photo of himself and the “As It Was” singer, who was all smiles.

The Berlin Marathon is one of the flattest courses in the world, making it a popular race among runners. A number of world records have been achieved at the athletic event in both mens and women’s races.

This wasn’t Styles’ first marathon, though. In March, he raced in the Tokyo Marathon, beating out more than 20,000 of his fellow runners with a time of 3 hours, 24 minutes, and 7 seconds. Overall, Styles came in 6,010th place out of 26,706 runners who completed the course.

It’s been more than three years since Styles last released a studio album, with 2022’s Harry’s House. Perhaps, he’s been more focused on his running than recording, since he’s clearly getting his miles in.

But Styles is far from the only celebrity to finish a marathon.

Earlier this year, Runner’s World rounded up a list of over 70 celebrities who have run marathons, including Colin Farrell, Jennifer Connelly, Ryan Reynolds, Kevin Hart, Ashton Kutcher, and Edward Norton.

Though few have managed to beat Styles’ finish time, Farrell, in particular, achieved his personal best in 2021 at the Brisbane Marathon, finishing in 3 hours, 53 minutes, and 14 seconds.

However, his most memorable race was the Dublin Marathon in October 24, when the actor pushed his friend in a wheelchair who was battling a rare skin condition called epidermolysis bullosa for the last two-and-a-half miles.
